How to Use Soundboard with Discord

So, you want to use Soundboard with Discord. Of course you do! Who wouldn’t want to chime in with iconic phrases from movies or cricket sounds during a long silence while online with friends? To put it simply, it’s easy, it’s fun, it’s downright entertaining.

Now the question is, how do you set up Soundboard in Discord? Don’t let all the text below fool you! It’s actually super easy, which you will see for yourself with these steps.

How to Use Soundboard with Discord

✅Check Your Audio in Voicemod

First thing’s first, open Voicemod, go to Settings, and select your speaker and headphone, just as you would when you normally use Voicemod. Scroll down a bit to Advanced Audio Settings and make sure you disable the Eliminate Popping and Mic Exclusive Mode options. Awesome! Step one complete.

IMPORTANT: You need to keep the Voicemod desktop app open at all times with the Voice Changer toggle enabled (at the bottom) in order to use it. Think of Voicemod as your microphone. If you close it, it’s the same as if you turned off your mic.

✅Select Voicemod in Discord

Next, head over to Discord, go to User Settings, and select Voice & Video. You’re now going to choose the Voicemod microphone from the Input Device drop-down. For output, select your headphones or speaker (DO NOT choose Voicemod’s line!). Great! Now, stay on this page, we’re not done with it yet.

✅Start Disabling Stuff!

Cards out on the table: Discord and Soundboard can sometimes be a little fussy together. Why? Because Discord picks up on our sounds and realizes that they’re… well, sounds, not human voices. And because they’re not human voices, Discord confuses our sounds with background noise and tries to block them.

So, to prevent that from happening you need to disable the following settings in Discord:

Automatically Determine Input Sensitivity

Noise Suppression

Echo Cancellation

Automatic Gain Control

Start Using Soundboard in Discord!

And that’s it! You’ve officially set up Soundboard in Discord. You can now start playing sound effects in your video chats – and be sure to use our keybind feature for quick and easy access to your favorite sounds!

IMPORTANT: If you’re having issues when trying the “Let’s Check” mic testing feature in Discord, it DOES NOT mean that Voicemod isn’t working. Check out our Help Center article for more information, but again, this will not test whether or not Voicemod is working in Discord.

One more thing, if you see that you’re having trouble using your sounds on Discord, even after following these steps, it could be that your Windows PC is interfering. If this is the case, just go to your computer’s volume settings, advanced sound settings, the Communications tab, and select “Do nothing.” Remember, when in doubt, disable, disable, disable!

So there you have it. Now all that’s left to do is to go have fun in chats with your squad.
